1. SkyBlock has its own clock

SkyBlock time is completely separate from real time, and it moves fast. A full SkyBlock year lasts about five real-life days; a SkyBlock month is a little over ten real hours, and a SkyBlock day passes every 20 real minutes. The year is split into twelve months across four seasons — Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, each divided into Early, mid and Late.

2. Mayors change the rules every few days

The most impactful thing on the calendar is the mayor. Once per SkyBlock year, players vote for a mayor who then runs the server for their whole term, granting server-wide perks. One mayor might boost mining rewards; another might supercharge farming, cut costs, or add special events. Since a term only lasts a few real days, the "best" thing to do in the game genuinely shifts from week to week.

Throughout the SkyBlock year, seasonal events come and go — the Traveling Zoo selling rare pets, the Spooky Festival at Halloween, Hoppity's Hunt in spring, the Harvest Feast in autumn, and the Season of Jerry in winter. On top of those, the Dark Auction runs every real hour, and Jacob's Farming Contests happen every few SkyBlock days.
