Hypixel SkyBlock Mayors & Elections

Everything you need to know about the mayor system — the voting cycle, perks, ministers and the special mayors — plus how to plan your gameplay around whoever's in office.

In Hypixel SkyBlock, a mayor is an elected official who runs the server for one full SkyBlock year. Every mayor grants a set of server-wide perks that stay active for their entire term — buffs that can dramatically change which activities are worth doing that week. Because a SkyBlock year lasts only about five real-life days, mayors rotate constantly, and knowing who's in charge (and who's coming next) is one of the easiest ways to play more efficiently.

You can always see the current mayor and their live perks at the top of skyblock.events, straight from the official Hypixel API. This page explains how the whole system works.

How the election cycle works

Mayors are chosen by a server-wide vote once per SkyBlock year. The cycle runs on the in-game calendar:

That open window lasts roughly 3 days and 21 hours in real time, with a short gap between cycles when the booth is closed. During an open election, skyblock.events shows every candidate, their proposed perks, and their live vote totals so you can see who's winning at a glance.

Perks and the minister

Each candidate campaigns on a set of perks. When they win, those perks apply to everyone on the server for the whole year. Perks cover almost every part of the game — bonuses to farming, mining and foraging, cheaper costs, extra event rewards, stronger pets, and more.

Alongside the winning mayor, a second official called the Minister is also appointed. The minister is drawn from the running candidates and contributes one additional perk to the term, so a typical year actually stacks the mayor's perks plus one minister perk. The live tracker lists the current minister and their perk under the mayor.

Special mayors

Most elections feature the familiar rotation of standard candidates, but on a longer cycle a special mayor can appear. The best known are:

Special mayors appear only occasionally (roughly every eight SkyBlock years), which is exactly why a live tracker is handy — you don't want to miss the week Scorpius or Derpy is in office. When a special candidate is on the ballot, skyblock.events flags them in the election list.

Planning around the mayor

The practical value of following mayors is simple: do the activity the current mayor rewards. If a mining-focused mayor is in office, that's the week to grind mining; when a farming or event-focused mayor takes over, pivot accordingly. Because terms are short, a little planning — checking who's in now and who's up next — compounds into a lot of saved time and extra rewards over a season.
